In 1914 Sadie Grimm, a teenager at the time, became the first motorcyclist to complete a motorcycle enduro ride from Winnipeg to Winnipeg Beach . The planned picnic shelter will commemorate her historical accomplishment.
Registration for the ride is from 10 AM to 11 AM at the Legion off DeVries (just south of the North Perimeter of Winnipeg off Henderson Highway). Legion has a great breakfast. The planned ride route will take you through Stonewall, Teulon, Fraserwood, allowing for arrival in Winnipeg Beach around 3 PM when the public concert starts. The celebration winds up around 5 PM.
Those only attending the concert can stop by the table near the Grandstand in Winnipeg Beach to pick up thier wristbands.
The original estimate 7 years ago when the project started was $31,000.00. COVID restrictions, the cost of steel and concrete, and labour shortages have driven that estimate up to $80,000. To date $47,000.00 has been raised, all by volunteers with only expenses being for bricks, lottery licences for raffles, and building permit.
