The Coalition of Manitoba Motorcycle Groups’ (CMMG’s) November 2020 Annual General Meeting (AGM) was postponed until January 2021; however, due to continued Covid19 restrictions, CMMG will now hold its AGM on ZOOM, Thursday February 25.
Only members may attend the AGM. If you do not have a current 2020 or 2021 membership you may renew by going to www.cmmg.org and use the Paypal link under Membership. If you are a member and have not received your ZOOM invite, please check your junk email or advise Doug at firstname.lastname@example.org
CMMG had a busy year. You can thank CMMG for motorcycle insurance premium rebates and for reducing motorcycle premium increases. CMMG appeared before the Public Utilities Board 3 times, twice advocating and getting rebates for motorcyclists and again in October, successfully challenging Manitoba Public Insurance’s (MPI’s) discriminatory rate setting methodology. PUB agreed with CMMG and instead of MPI’s proposed premium increase of 4.7% for motorcycles, the rate increase has been reduced to and overall increase of 1.74% (motorcycles 1.71%, Mopeds 2.9%). Still too much though! More to do!
Currently CMMG is collaborating with Manitoba Infrastructure regarding changes to the Motorcycle Equipment and Inspection Regulations.
CMMG needs your ongoing financial support through membership in order to continue with our advocacy efforts on behalf of Manitoba Motorcyclists.
Doug Houghton, President CMMG
